Búzios, once a tranquil fishing village, is home to some of Brazil's most stunning beaches with crystal-clear water, exotic vegetation and a wonderful year-round summer climate. Buzios made its fame in the sixties, when Brigitte Bardot and her boyfriend spent some time in the former fisherman's village. Since then Búzios' natural beauty has attracted many visitors.

It is a laidback and very safe beach destination, with restaurants, boutiques, shops, trendy bars en (luxury) pousadas, just 2 hours east from Rio. A paradise for sunbathing, swimming and a great variety of watersports, such as fishing, diving, snorkeling and surfing. The tropical islands along the coast make a trip on a schooner or catamaran a must.

With its superb location at the edge of a peninsula, it is surrounded by beaches on 3 sides. A comfortable way to check out the best beaches is by boat taxi, a service connecting most beaches.

Apart from its beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere, the city itself has no real highlights. Buzios is a place to enjoy at one's ease, sipping on a ciapirinha while overlooking the blue Atlantic. With a pleasant average temperature (79ºF) and its relative closeness to Rio, Buzios is an ideal place to relax for a couple of days after visiting Brazil's famous, chaotic and busy metropolis.
