Recenty the Brazilian flight market has been dramatically changed by the company Gol. With their "fluid-pricing" policy, adjusting rates acording to demand and availability, they have been responsible for considerable reductions on national flight rates. Unfortunately non-Brazilians are not able to book their flights on the internet.

Brazil Airpasses
If you are going to travel extensively through Brazil and plan to use 4 or more national flights, a Brazil Airpass is a very practical and economical option. Especially if for example a remote destination as Manaus is scheduled in your itinerary (the rate for a return ticket Rio - Manaus, will get easily over US$ 500; please compare with the airpasses). Buying an airpass offers you very good value for money, being the most practical and economical way to travel through Brazil.
Airpasses should be bought prior to arrival in Brazil and are available only to foreigners and Brazilians residing abroad. An important requirement is that one should hold an international return ticket to Brazil; in other words, enter and leave the country by air. The pass is valid for 21 days from the first internal flight and can include up to nine stops.
Depending on the company used for flying to Brazil, Jacaré Travel offers two different rates (depending on the flight carrier with which you travel to Brazil):

An interesting option for travellers to Brazil´s North-Eastern States is the North East Airpass, offering up to 4 flights for US$ 299, to be bought prior to arrival and only in combination with an international Varig ticket.
There is also a Mercosur Airpass, offering flights throughout Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay. Ideal for travellers planning an extensive itinerary combining a visit to Brazil with one of its southern neighbours.
The cost of the South American Airpass is based on the number of miles flown. Prices start from just US$ 225 up to 1900 miles till U$ 870 for over 7200 miles. The maximum stay is 30 days.
